A man was recently arrested in conA man was recently arrested in connection with the Christmas Day shooting in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The shooting left one dead according to authorities. The shooting was captured on surveillance at a gas station. It occurred on December 25 at the Westar Gas Station at 701 W. Broward Blvd.
The surveillance video shows the gunman arriving at the gas station and waiting inside a black Dodge Dart on the victim. After the victim pulls up at the pump behind him, the gunman then gets out of the car and begins shooting at him as the victim runs into the store.
According to a Local 10 report, the clerk on duty at the time stated that “the victim tried to hide behind the counter made of bulletproof glass”.
Surveillance shows the gunman calmly exited the store before leaving the area in his car. Investigations are currently ongoing to identify a passenger who got out Sapp’s car prior to the shooting. The motive is still unclear.
According to Police, the suspect is forty-six (46) year old Jeffery Sapp. Mr. Sapp was arrested at his home in Coral Springs.
According to the Fort Lauderdale Police, Sapp was taken into custody by a joint effort between law enforcement agencies. The judge has ordered that he be held without bond.
Police have identified the deceased as Emmanuel Watts, aged 41.
