Florida just received a shipment of over 30-thousand pounds of cocaine worth nearly half a billion dollars.
It comes from the US Coast Guard which intercepted 21 different illegal shipments and brought back the drugs. The suspected smugglers were busted off the coasts of Central and South America and also Mexico.
Plenty of the work was done when members of the coast guard weren’t even getting paid.
“I’m really proud of the men and women behind us. They have stepped forward… These men and women were away from their families, a lot of things on their mind, but they kept their head in the game. They stood the watch. And what you see behind you is the results of that.” Adm. Karl Schultz said.
The Coast Guard says over the past three years it has removed 1.3 million pounds of cocaine from illegal drug supply chains.
